The following are the true and simple facts of my case

On the 20th July 1887 I joined the British Army, and remine din the service for 7 years when I took my discharge on the 11th December 1804
which dischargot and iscived excellant discharges from my superior officers are row in Victoria Prison in Hang Kong, and can be inspected there. Having etlied from the Army I was appointed 3rd Chass Turnkey in Victoria Prison In Hong Kong on the 12th December 1804, was promoted to darder in that Priso in 1897, promoted to Principal Warder 24th October 1899, Acting Chief fardel '9th July 1002, Chief Warder 2nd Class 1st January 1905, and during four yaş of the 14 years which I spent in the service of the Colonial Authorities in Hong Kong I occupied the very responsible position of Chief Jarder în the Branch Pilson attached to the Victoria Prison, and discharged al. ny duties without any complaint whatever from my superiors. The Branch Prison having been closed, I got a years furlough which I spent at hom in Ireland and on my return I took up my duties in Victoria Prison. On the 27t May last I took over the cutles of the senior Chief Warder that Officer having gone on his annual leave. During the months of May and June I was suffering from indigestion and general debility, and I was advised by an old Europe an resident in Hong Kong, to take an g and tonic mich I die dally, but nevei to excess or to anything approaching it . Om the7th July last I had a gin and torde at a quarter past 12 o'clock in the day and another at about 1,45 In the day. The day was excessively hot, and having gone to my office I sat dow down and dosed and was found by Mr Craig the Assistant superintendent in that position, and he called Principa: Warders McLeod and Passmore and staed
